Job Description:
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to join our team as the Chief Legal Officer (CLO). The CLO will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters of IESCO, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic legal guidance to the Board of Directors and senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Oversight:
- Overall responsibility for the legal affairs of IESCO Limited.
- Review, improve, and develop IESCO’s legal policies and processes.
- Prioritize and support the resolution of legal disputes involving IESCO Limited.
- Litigation Management:
- Manage and oversee all litigation matters, including corporate, constitutional, civil, service, and criminal cases.
- Represent IESCO in legal proceedings and coordinate with external legal counsel.
- Legal Advisory:
- Provide legal opinions to the Board of Directors, CEO, and senior management on various matters, including corporate, service, labor, civil, criminal, banking, and energy sector issues.
- Draft and review legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in legislation and regulatory requirements affecting IESCO.
- Asset Protection:
- Safeguard IESCO’s legal interests, including asset maintenance, agreements, and compliance with court orders.
- Manage legal risks and provide guidance to mitigate potential liabilities.
- Regulatory Liaison:
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities such as NEPRA on legal issues related to tariffs, consumer affairs, and performance standards.
- Represent IESCO in legal matters before regulatory bodies and courts.
- Legal Team Management:
- Work with panel lawyers to ensure effective defense of IESCO’s interests in legal proceedings.
- Provide leadership and direction to the legal team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education:
- A degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.
- An LLM or equivalent qualification will be preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 12 years of practice as an advocate of the Supreme Court or High Courts, or equivalent experience in corporate law, company law, service and labor law, ADR, regulatory, and commercial affairs.
- At least 3 years of experience in a senior legal role within the power sector or public sector organizations is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong legal interpretation, communication, and language skills.
- Proven ability to provide strategic legal advice and manage complex legal issues.
Age Limit:
The maximum age limit for applicants is 55 years as of the closing date for applications.
Nature of Employment:
The position is offered on a contractual basis for an initial period of three years, extendable based on performance and company policy.
Remuneration:
A competitive salary package will be offered, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
