Key Responsibilities
As the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy of BEEF. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Financial Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization’s mission and objectives.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the Executive Director and senior management team regarding financial planning and resource allocation.
- Financial Management:
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- Ensure that financial practices are in compliance with local regulations and standards.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor performance against budgetary targets.
- Prepare accurate financial forecasts to guide decision-making.
- Risk Management:
- Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Conduct regular assessments of organizational financial health and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
- Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, and the board of directors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Build a high-performing finance team capable of supporting the organization’s growth.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, regulatory bodies, and funding agencies.
- Cultivate relationships with donors and stakeholders to enhance funding opportunities.
- Investment Management:
- Oversee investment strategies for endowment funds to ensure optimal returns while managing risk.
- Evaluate potential investment opportunities that align with BEEF’s mission.
- Technology Integration:
- Implement advanced financial management systems to enhance reporting capabilities and operational efficiency.
- Leverage technology for data analysis and decision-making support.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional certification such as CPA or CFA is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in finance management roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams while fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Integrity: High ethical standards; commitment to transparency and accountability in all financial dealings.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with local regulations governing non-profit organizations is an advantage.
