The Role: Assessing and Strengthening LHWs in TB Control
This consultancy offers a unique opportunity to contribute to strengthening TB control efforts across Pakistan. The National Consultant will lead a comprehensive assessment of the role of Lady Health Workers in TB control, focusing on understanding their contributions, challenges, and potential for enhanced impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Verification of LHW Program Coverage: Conduct a thorough verification of LHW program coverage in all districts of Pakistan by collecting and analyzing data from relevant sources.
- Policy Framework Analysis: Analyze and document the existing policy framework for LHWs at both Federal and Provincial levels by engaging with policymakers and reviewing legal documents.
- Evaluation of Recruitment and Retention Strategies: Evaluate the current recruitment and retention strategies for LHWs, including their remuneration packages, through stakeholder interviews and data analysis.
- Assessment of LHW Involvement in TB Management: Assess the involvement of LHWs in case detection, preventive treatment, referral, and treatment support.
- Identification of Gaps and Challenges: Identify gaps and challenges faced by LHWs in the context of TB control.
- Knowledge, Capacity, and Training Assessment: Determine the knowledge, capacity, and training of LHWs related to TB management.
- Community Perception Assessment: Assess community perception and acceptance of LHWs’ role in TB control.
- Corrective Measures and Recommendations: Define corrective measures to address gaps and provide actionable recommendations for strengthening the contribution of LHWs in TB control efforts.
- Report Preparation and Submission: Prepare and submit a detailed report summarizing findings and recommendations.
Qualifications and Experience
- MBBS/BDS with MPH, MSPH, Health Policy and Management, or equivalent qualification.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in public health programs.
- Strong knowledge of Pakistan’s healthcare system, preferably in LHW and TB programs.
- Familiarity with global TB strategies and policies is an asset.
- Proven expertise in designing and conducting assessments, including qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
Age Limit and Duration
- Maximum age limit: 60 years.
- The consultancy is expected to last for 3 months.
