Responsibilities:
The Chief Legal Officer will be a key member of LESCO’s senior management team and will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters of the company. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer/Board of Directors of LESCO, providing effective legal advice and strategic guidance on a wide range of legal issues affecting the company’s operations.
- Managing and leading the corporate legal affairs at LESCO, ensuring that all legal matters are handled efficiently, effectively, and in the best interests of the organization.
- Developing and leading proactive legal strategies at LESCO which are favorable to the company’s business objectives while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Rendering of oral and written legal opinions to the management / CEO / Board of Directors / various departments of LESCO on legal matters, including interpretations of LESCO, liaison with and appearing before regulatory authorities / governmental bodies.
- Managing all ongoing / anticipated litigation wherein LESCO is impleaded as a party and overseeing the selection and management of external legal counsel appointed to legal counsel to ensure favorable decisions for the company.
- The incumbent will also be expected to:
- Thorough knowledge of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the electricity distribution sector is essential for navigating the complex legal landscape of the industry.
- Sufficient know-how and experience of legal affairs and litigation processes, regimes and structures, including but not limited to service laws, labor laws, contract laws, property laws, arbitration laws, including civil courts, high courts, tribunals, etc., is crucial for managing the diverse legal challenges faced by a large organization.
- Experience in handling legal matters including but not limited to arbitration, mediation and the relevant applicable laws on the subject, both local and international, will be highly valuable in resolving disputes effectively.
- Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders to lead and cultivate community/business relationships. This is to be complemented with the capacity to establish a long-term vision and viable strategies to address complex challenges in the legal arena coupled with the ability to diagnose legal issues and generate practical solutions for the company.
- Excellent skills of advocacy with the ability to present LESCO’s stance and outlook clearly, concisely, and persuasively in legal forums and negotiations.
- Proven leadership abilities to direct the legal team effectively and efficiently, ensuring high-quality legal support across the organization.
Qualification and Experience:
To be considered for this prestigious position, candidates must meet the following qualification and experience criteria:
- The applicant must possess a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a reputable HEC (Higher Education Commission) recognized university. A Master of Laws (LL.M) and/or Bar at Law shall hold additional weightage, indicating a deeper specialization and advanced legal training.
- The expectations with respect to experience include:
- Minimum of 15 years of post-qualification experience in the legal field and sufficient exposure by way of practice before lower and high courts across Pakistan, demonstrating a broad understanding of the Pakistani legal system.
- Deep understanding of prevalent laws including those governing the power / electricity distribution sector at the national and international level, and contract negotiations preferably related to the power sector at national and international level, is essential for providing effective legal counsel in this specialized industry.
- The candidate must comply with the Fit & Proper Criteria and other conditions as prescribed in the relevant rules and regulations, ensuring adherence to the regulatory standards for key management positions.
Remuneration & Contract Policy:
- The selected candidate will be offered a competitive salary package commensurate with qualifications and experience, reflecting the seniority and importance of this leadership role.
- The contract will be decided by the Board of Directors (BOD) at the time of selection, outlining the terms of employment.
- The services of the Chief Legal Officer will be further extendable on satisfactory performance with annual performance evaluation to be conducted by the Board of Directors, LESCO against agreed-upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as provided in the contractual arrangement and revised from time to time, ensuring continuous high performance and alignment with company goals.

قابلیت اور تجربہ:
اس باوقار عہدے پر غور کرنے کے لیے، امیدواروں کو درج ذیل قابلیت اور تجربے کے معیار پر پورا اترنا ضروری ہے:
